Doxing Prevention

Protecting your physical home address from being leaked by online trolls.

THE THREAT
Doxing is the act of publishing someone's private information like their address, phone number, or school online as a form of harassment.

THE SELF AUDIT
1. Google Yourself: Search for your name and your parents' names. Check the images tab to see if your face is linked to your home or school.
2. Username Hygiene: Do not use the same username for your public social media and your private gaming accounts.
3. The Map Test: Go to your tagged photos. Do any of them show a street sign near your house or the front of your school? Remove those tags immediately.

ACTION STEPS
1. Remove Personal Info: Delete your address and phone number from any public social media bios.
2. Use a PO Box: If you are an influencer or receiving fan mail, never give out your home address. Use a professional mailing service instead.
