Biometric Safety: FaceID and Legal Rights

THE KNOWLEDGE
Biometric locks (Face and Fingerprint) are convenient, but they carry different legal protections than a numeric passcode in many parts of the world.

STEPS
1. SOS Lockdown: On most phones, pressing the power button five times or holding power and volume will enter 'SOS Mode.' This immediately disables biometrics and requires a passcode to enter.
2. Require Attention: Ensure 'Require Attention for FaceID' is ON in your settings. This prevents someone from unlocking your phone while you are asleep.
3. The Legal Gap: In many jurisdictions, police can legally compel you to use your thumb or face to unlock a phone, but they cannot legally compel you to give up a numeric passcode.
